THE HISTORY OF R&M MANUFACTURING

Since 1969, R&M Manufacturing has been a leading producer of precision sheet metal components. With 40+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, our methods are repeatable and economical. Here’s a little bit about the history of R&M and how it came to be the company it is today.

WHERE R&M BEGAN

Entrance to R&M Manufacturing BuildingR&M got its start in 1969 providing sheet metal fabrication and short-run stampings for the computer and electrical generation industries. From the very beginning, R&M differentiated itself from the competition as a company that worked with their customers’ engineering departments and assisted them with the manufacturability of metal parts. In 2004, Todd Dyste and partners purchased R&M. While the basic business model continued, it was quickly realized that the long-term vision required the development and implementation of standard processes and controls.

A QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

This included the adoption of a formal Quality Management System. R&M is currently ISO 9001:2015 certified. The vision and long-term strategy resulted in the acquisition of Die Products, a state-of-the-art tool and die designer, builder, and progressive stamper. Additionally, R&M is a member of The United Nations Global Compact and participates in the EcoVadis Scorecard program.

ADDING PROGRESSIVE STAMPING

The 2007 acquisition of Die Products strengthened R&M’s tool design/build capability and added short-run and long-run progressive stamping to the services provided. With this acquisition, R&M was now able to offer its customers everything from prototypes to long-run production parts. R&M also began building tooling for customers to run at their own facility – a popular service still to this day. By offering this full range of services, R&M’s customer base grew from domestic to international. R&M and Die Products were consolidated at a single, 100,000-square-foot facility in 2008. The manufacturing plant, located in Buffalo, Minnesota includes an extensive array of metal fabrication equipment, making it possible for us to provide all of our services in-house. By integrating Die Products and R&M’s expertise in tooling design, prototyping and progressive stamping, short-run stamping, metal fabrication and assembly, R&M is recognized by customers as a preferred, full-service metal fabricator and a strategic supplier for stampings.
